Aromatherapy – Aromatherapy uses natural plant extracts as part of a holistic healing treatment. Aromatherapy can sometimes be referred to as essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses essential aromatic oils to help with the improvement of mind and body. Aromatherapy has also shown significant improvements when it comes to enhancing emotional and physical health.

Aromatherapy is known as both a science and an art form. Recent studies have shown that aromatherapy has gained more recognition in the medical and scientific fields.

Humans have been feeling the benefits of aromatherapy for thousands of years. Ancient cultures in India, Egypt, and China used natural aromatic plant compounds in balms and oils. These natural substances were used for many medical purposes.

As medicals doctors became more established in the 19th century, they started to rely on chemical drugs. Many doctors the world over still recognized the importance of using natural oils when it came to treating illness.

Aromatherapy did not gain its name until 1937. A French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse coined the term in a book where he noted the effect and healing potential of lavender. The book went on to discuss essential oils and their importance in treating medical conditions.

Aromatherapy works via skin absorption and smell. The products used in aromatherapy are:

  • Clay masks
  • Facial steamers
  • Hot and cold compress
  • Body oils, lotions, and creams
  • Bathing salts
  • Inhalers

These products can be used alone but show more effects when used in combination. When it comes to essential oils, there are over 100 types available. Each oil has a plethora of healing properties, effects, and uses. Using a combination of essential oils can help to aid multiple issues at any given time.

Aromatherapy itself has an extensive collection of benefits, and it is said to aid in:

  • Pain management
  • Improve sleep
  • Reduce anxiety, stress, and agitation
  • Ease sore joints
  • Help with headaches and migraines;
  • Ease labor pain;
  • Fight certain bacteria and viruses
  • Improve digestion
  • Boost immunity

One thing that will be prominent as you explore the uses of essential oils is how different oils and methods affect you. Essential oils should always be used under the instruction and guidance of a professional.

Detox Wrap – To finish off your signature massage experience, a detox wrap will be applied to your feet, scalp, neck, face, and shoulders.

Firstly, as with all body wraps, the detox wrap will start with exfoliation. The exfoliation process enables the detox wrap to be able to penetrate the skin as deeply as possible. Detox wraps in general use a variety of products such as seaweed, algae, clay, mud or even a gel. These products will help to rid the body of toxins. When the products are applied to the body, this process is called the body mask.

After the body mask is applied, you will then be wrapped in plastic and then placed under cover of a blanket for around 20 minutes. The combination of all of these steps works my adding stimulation to your natural circulatory process. Stimulating the circulation helps to draw out any impurities and give your body any of the essential minerals that may be missing.

After the 20 minutes, the body mask will be washed off. One completely mask free lotion will be gently applied.

Detox wraps are fantastic, especially for those times in life when changing diet. A detox wrap is specifically designed to help rid your body of a toxic load.

Body Wrap – As with the detox, a body wrap will always begin with an exfoliation. Once the exfoliation process is complete, you lie down, and the wrapping process will soon begin. When you lie down, you can lie on whatever the substance is you will be wrapped in, or even just on a towel.

It is always recommended that a massage therapist applies body wrap. The massage therapist will incorporate specific massage techniques during the application process. Just like the detox, once the product is applied, you will be covered to ensure you remain warm. This part of the process generally takes around 20 minutes.

When the 20 minutes is up, you will be carefully unwrapped, and the body mask will be removed. Generally, this process takes place in a wet room. The therapist will always aid in the removal of the mask. Once dried off, there will be an application of lotion that will assist in keeping the skin moist.

Body wraps are principally designed to improve the aesthetics and texture of the skin. Some of the benefits of body wraps are:

  • Ridding the body of toxins and excess fluids
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Skin tightening
  • Skin softening
  • Detoxification
  • Boost to the lymphatic system
